The 24 Hours of Le Mans takes place on the Circuit de la Sarthe, located around three miles from the town of Le Mans. There are different packages available but get yours early – high demand means that they sell out well in advance.

The Le Mans 24 hour race is not for the faint-hearted. While many spectators will match the dedication of the competitors and stay awake for the entire 24 hours, camping areas are provided if it all gets a bit much. Be warned, many of the facilities at the 24 Hours of Le Mans are basic and if you want to get some shut-eye then ear plugs are a must.

With the event lasting no less than twenty four hours, the Le Mans circuit is well stocked with snack outlets and restaurants. The popular Restaurant des Hunaudières offers great food and outstanding views of the action. Many eateries are on the expensive side, so it might be worth visiting one of the hypermarkets in nearby Le Mans, where alternative supplies can be found.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans also features an on-site funfair just beyond the Dunlop Bridge. It has a number of hair-raising rides, including a wall of death and a bungee jump. Just don’t forget your radio so you can listen in to Radio Le Mans’ 24 hour race coverage.

Attractions near to the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Most famous for the twenty four hour race, Le Mans itself also offers less high-octane thrills. The old town is well-preserved, with a cathedral (the Cathédrale St-Julien) and the remnants of the old Roman wall and baths can also be seen.
